Emergency First Aid in the Workplace Level 2

Description:

Where an organisation’s risk assessment of First Aid needs identities that there is a requirement for Emergency First Aid in the Workplace practitioners, then these national Awards for Emergency First Aid in the Workplace satisfies the requirements of the regulatory body for First Aid – the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). All learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.

Duration:

7 hours contact time plus assessment time, consisting of practical and theoretical activities.

Syllabus:

A range of subjects are covered including:

• Responsibilities and Reporting • Resuscitation • Burns • Assessment of the situation • Anatomy • Choking • Dealing with an Unresponsive Casualty • Minor Injuries • Epilepsy • Basic Hygiene in First Aid • Bleeding Control • Shock

Certification:

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a multiple choice question paper, and a three year qualification will be issued to those who satisfy the criteria.

Numbers:

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all learners must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

First Aid at Work Level 3

Description:

It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers should provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees. If the risk assessment of First Aid highlights the need for qualified First Aider’s, then this Level 3 qualification (Level 6 in Scotland) will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel. This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level.

Duration:

21 hours contact time plus assessment time spread over at least three days. Ideally, the course should be run over three consecutive days, but we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs if you so desire providing it is completed within 10 weeks of starting the course.

Syllabus:

A range of subjects are covered including:

Legalities, responsibilities and reporting • Assessment of the situation • Resuscitation • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty  • Shock (including Anaphylaxis) • Bandaging •  Fractures and Spinal Injuries • Heart Attacks • Choking  • Control of Bleeding • Head Injuries • Eye Injuries • Poisoning • Chest Injuries •  Sprains and Strains • Burns • Asthma • Diabetes • Epilepsy • Stroke

Certification:

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor along with a question paper on each day. A three year Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland) will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required.

Annual Refresher Course

Description:

This course is designed for those who do not regularly use their first aid skills. It will enable you to refresh and update your first aid knowledge and skills and give you the confidence when called upon to put them into practice.

Duration:

3½ hours contact time plus assessment time, consisting of practical and theoretical activities.

Syllabus:

A range of subjects are covered including:

Responsibilities • Primary survey • Secondary assessment • Resuscitation • Wounds and bleeding

Certification:

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a multiple choice question paper, and a certificate of attendance will be issued.

Numbers:

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all learners must be a minimum of 14 years of age.

 

 

 

First Aid Refresher Courses (Annual and 2 Day Renewal)

Description:

Successfully completing this 2 day course prior to your existing First Aid at Work Level 3 certificate expiring will enable you to retain your First Aid at Work Certificate level 3 for an additional 3 years.

Duration:

14 hours contact time plus assessment time, consisting of practical and theoretical activities.

Syllabus:

A range of subjects are covered as identified in the First Aid at Work Level 3 syllabus

Certification:

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor along with a question paper on each day. A three year Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland) will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required.

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all learners must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

 

 

Emergency Response

Description:

This course will equip the learner with the skills to cover some core emergency procedures enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.

Duration:

3½ hours contact time plus assessment time, consisting of practical and theoretical activities.

Arriving at the scene • Primary survey • Secondary assessment • Resuscitation

Certification:

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a multiple choice question paper, and a certificate of attendance will be issued

Numbers:

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all learners must be a minimum of 14 years of age.
